Reconfigurable Light Control

Researchers have reported a new metas-urface design of ultrathin and compact optical elements to control precise light output.
The Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) developed a new design for a thin patterned gold-over-silicon structure at the pixel level. A programmable electromagnetic force deforms each pixel and controls the light output. This design might have an application in OLED and display technology in the future.
